For a completely new take on the cheeseburger, the Sterns say you must go to Shady Glen in upstate Connecticut. Cheese spills from the sizzling meat onto the grill where it turns crispy and delicious before it’s served atop the burger. Shady Glen serves their own homemade ice cream and frozen puddings, including the New England classic, Grape Nuts Ice Cream. The dairy-bar ambiance at this remnant of the 1950s might take you back to the days of Archie and Veronica.
